Clock & Screensaver

Use your frame as a beautiful ambient clock when photos aren't playing — with custom fonts, dimming, and idle activation.

#Clock & Screensaver

When your frame isn't actively showing a slideshow, it doesn't need to sit on a blank screen. LumiFrame's Clock mode turns any connected frame into a beautiful ambient display — a full-screen clock that activates automatically after a period of inactivity.

#What Clock mode looks like

Clock mode fills the screen with the current time and date in a style you choose. It's designed to look great in any room:

  • Large, legible time display.
  • Subtle date shown below.
  • Works in both light and dark themes.
  • Optional screen dimming for overnight use.
  • OLED black mode for screens where pure black saves energy.

#Activating Clock mode

Clock mode can activate automatically when your frame is idle (no slideshow playing, no interaction). To configure this:

  1. Go to Settings → Advanced Settings.
  2. Find the Screensaver section.
  3. Enable Clock Mode and set the Inactivity Time — how long the frame should sit idle before the clock appears (e.g. 5 minutes, 15 minutes).

Once set, the clock will appear automatically whenever the frame is left alone for that amount of time.

#Launching Clock mode manually

You can jump straight to Clock mode at any time:

  1. Go to Frames and tap a connected frame.
  2. Tap Clock Mode (or the clock icon).

The frame will switch to the clock immediately.

#Customising the clock display

Once in Clock mode, tap the screen to open the clock settings panel:

#Font

Choose from a wide range of typefaces — from clean and modern (San Francisco, Helvetica, Avenir) to classic and editorial (Baskerville, Didot, Georgia) to playful and handwritten (Bradley Hand, Chalkboard). Try a few and see what suits the room.

#Text size

Independently adjust the size of the time and date using the sliders. Make the time as big and bold as you like, with the date smaller underneath.

#Screen dimming

Reduce the brightness of the clock display with the Dim slider. Useful for bedrooms or any space where a bright clock at night would be distracting.

  • 0% — Full brightness.
  • 50% — A comfortable dim for evening use.
  • 80-100% — Very subtle, almost invisible in a dark room.

#OLED Black mode

If your frame has an OLED screen, enabling this sets the background to true black, which turns off those pixels entirely and saves energy. This gives the clock a floating, minimal appearance.

#Exiting Clock mode

Tap anywhere on the clock display to exit and return to the normal frame view. If a slideshow is set up, you can start it from there.

#Tips for using Clock mode

  • Set a longer inactivity time (30+ minutes) if you want the slideshow to run most of the time with the clock as a fallback.
  • Use heavy dimming at night and full brightness during the day for an always-on ambient display.
  • OLED Black mode combined with a minimal font (like Futura or Helvetica Neue) looks particularly striking.
