Getting Started with LumiFrame
Everything you need to set up LumiFrame and start displaying your memories, from first launch to your first slideshow.
Welcome to LumiFrame! LumiFrame turns the screens you already own into beautiful, always-current memory displays, with no dedicated frame to buy. This guide walks you through your first experience, from opening the app to having your memories playing on a frame.
#1. Create your account
When you open LumiFrame for the first time, you'll be asked to sign in or create a new account.
- Tap Create Account on the welcome screen.
- Enter your name, email address, and a password.
- Tap Create Account to continue.
- Check your email for a verification link and tap it to confirm your address.
Already have an account? Tap Sign In instead and enter your email and password.
#2. Set up your profile
After signing in, you'll be guided through a quick profile setup:
- Add a profile photo (optional, but recommended so friends recognise you in albums).
- Confirm your display name.
- Tap Continue to proceed.
You can update all of this later in Settings → Edit Profile.
#3. Grant permissions
LumiFrame will ask for a couple of permissions to work properly:
- Photo Library access: so you can choose still and live memories from your library to display.
- Notifications: so you know when someone shares something with you or your frame needs attention.
Tap Allow for each. You can change these later in your phone's Settings if you change your mind.
#4. Register this device as a frame
A "frame" in LumiFrame is whatever device is running the app: a phone, a tablet on a stand, or a TV. There is no separate frame to buy and nothing to pair. The device in your hand is the frame.
- Open the Frames tab and tap Add Frame.
- Give it a name, like "Living Room TV" or "Kitchen Tablet".
- Tap Add Frame to confirm.
That's it. This device is now a frame and can play your albums.
How many devices? The free plan runs LumiFrame on one device at a time. You can move it to a different device whenever you like, which deactivates the previous one. Premium and Elite raise this to 10 and 25 devices, which is also what lets one device drive what's playing on another.
#5. Create your first album
- Tap Albums in the bottom navigation.
- Tap the + button to create a new album.
- Give it a name, then tap Create.
- Tap Add Memories to choose still and live memories from your library.
- Select what you'd like to display and tap Done.
#6. Start your slideshow
- Go to Frames and tap your connected frame.
- Tap Start Slideshow.
- Choose the album you just created.
- Your memories will begin playing on your frame.
That's it, you're up and running! Explore the rest of the app to invite people, customise your slideshow, and follow what everyone adds in the activity feed.
